School as community

School as Community

The school is more than just an educational establishment that is teaching and learning academic subjects.  As well as the wide ranging curriculum, and the extra curricula activities on Fridays (Seniors) and Tuesdays (Poplar), the school also functions in a number of other ways.

PTA

We have a thriving and supportive PTA who organise a range of events for parents – such as the Christmas Fair, Fish and Chip quiz evenings and barbecues – and for children.  All of which help the school come together as a community.

Over and above this, the PTA’s fundraising activities provide additional facilities to enhance pupils’ learning and social development.

School Events

We come together as a wider school – parents, pupils, friends and staff – with various performances throughout the year.  Here we have a proactive “whole school” policy in that everyone who wants to take part, can.  Performances such as Robin HoodBugsy Malone, My Fair Lady, and Peter Pan were “sell-outs” and much enjoyed by everyone. In recent years collections made at these events have been added to the school’s charity activity which has resulted in donations being made to both local and national organisations.

We also have special services to celebrate major festivals and events such as our Prize Giving where we celebrate both effort and achievement across the whole school during the year.
